I’ve bought several Roombas for home and work. The ones at work come on every morning at 6am clean up for an hour or so and re-dock for charging. They need emptying every 8-9 days (it’s a clean office)
At home it gets shoved in a room and forgotten about for 20 mins and then moved to a new room
Bought one for 70 year old parents and in-laws and they love ’em too
Pros;
You don’t have to Hoover!
They clean under beds and cupboards really well
They clean really deeply because they don’t get bored
Cons;
They can fill up quickly if your floor is full of crap
You have to remove ANYTHING (cables, newspapers, cups) from it’s path because it will chew them up
Sloping chairs (I.e. It’s a 5″ gap underneath at one end and 3″ at the other) provide the perfect wedge for them to drive in and get stuck
All in I think they’re one of the greatest inventions ever and I’m amazed they’re not all over the place! Beware cheap shit imitations that don’t have the “roomba logic” though
