Butcher and Captain, maybe? Depends on which Highroller you’re using

    XR4 and XR3 Are similar to a HD and a NN but I definitely wouldn’t say a HD or XR4 are like a HR II 2.4 3C.

mountain king front, X king rear on mine. Trail king would kill me on the back tyre! 😆

Look at the Onza Ibex for the front as a HR alternative, cheap enough and I found it a bit more progressive than a HR but with similar grip levels.

You can also get them in a compound that sits between a Super Tacky and the Max-Pro which rolls well but still hooks up.

HRII up front and Swampthing up the rear 😯 yes I know they are both Maxxis, but I love em, me.

Used to love the Kenda Nevegal / Blue Groove combo.
    Bit lardy these days though.
    Have tried:
    Nic / Ralph
    Nic / Dampf

    Both ok.
Love the Ralphs. Super fast rolling but surprising amount of grip

Now running Ralph / Knard but it’s not for the feint hearted at this time of year. 😀

On one chunky monkey and on one smorgasbord

Excellent tyres made by maxxis but without the name premium

Any reason not to just get the HRII/Ardent?

    Would be my choice.

If it’s for your FS that starts with a ‘P’ OP, then I’ve found the HD and NN combo works very well on mine 😉

If it’s the price of them that has you asking for other options have a look on ACycles. I recently got a DHF2 3c exo TR for £27 delivered. NextDayTyres have them for £44 so very good price 🙂

Currently On NN front Ralph rear on 29’er. Ralph works remarkably well but does spin out in the gloop – unsurprisingly

So obvious choice I guess is a dampf on the front and stick NN on back but was wondering what other possibilities there were

Butcher front and Purgatory rear from Specialized. Great combination IMHO.

Interesting.. why do you spec all your bikes with the Maxxis then?
