    Dear The Internet,

My lovely old full-susser has to go. What reasonable monies can I expect to receive from its sale, please?

    Loads more pics here.

Frame: Large (19.5″) 2005 Turner 5-Spot (Horst-link) with Fox RP23 shock (TF tuned).
Forks: Magura Menjas (130mm of air-sprung plushness w/ lockout)
Wheels: 26″ Mavic XC717 on XTR hubs w/ skewers (recently replaced the XTR freehub)
Drivetrain: XT shifters 9-speed, XT triple chainset, XT BB, XT front and rear mechs.
    Brakes: Shimano LX
Headset: Cane Creek S3 with a USE Safe-T headlock thing
    Seatpin: Thomson layback
    Bars: Sunline V3
Saddle: Specialised Alias 155 (carbon bits)

Frame was bought 2nd hand in 2010. Hasn’t really seen a lot of action under my stewardship – fairweather rides where possible. Ridden… 3 times in the last 18months? Can’t remember when before that. Components were all bought new at various dates over the last 4 years. Chainset and BB were quite recent, as was the freehub (over £100’s-worth of freehub…)

As far as I am concerned it’s all in perfect working order. No knocks, creaks, cracks or anything and would have no qualms about taking it somewhere rugged. There’s a very small dent on the downtube near the BB shell where a stone flew up. Previous owner had it re-powdercoated and covered it in helicopter tape (which I’ve just removed). Decals looking a bit tatty at the bottom. As you know these frames have grease ports (no bearings to replace). Occasionally I’ve taken the frame into my LBS to let their mechanic service the frame by disassembling/inspecting/cleaning it (I’d rather leave that to a profeshnial) – and he’s always been impressed with its condition and said it didn’t need servicing. Forks were serviced a while ago (by that independent Magura guru the name of whom escapes me) who said they were in great shape internally. Similarly the RP23 has been to TFtuned who’ve said it’s fine internally.

Plenty of meat on the tyres and brakepads. Cassette and chain will need replacing soon. Pedals are a bit tired, too.

Best full susser I’ve ever owned. Fact. Sadly, however, the wheels are the wrong size 😉

Split it up first – no one wants your build or at least, no one will pay a reasonable price for it. You’ll get much more for the parts most likely.

The frame isn’t going to be worth a huge amount though – £200-£300 at a guess given the age. Maybe a bit more if you find the right buyer.

Think those frames are going for a bit more than that on eBay. Been watching a few.

What he ^^^ said, split it and sell the parts, hang the frame on the wall as bike art..
    It’s a future classic..
eBay bends you over for fees now, they go for a bit more but you get less..

I’d be surprised for a 9 year old frame. As said above, split it, but be prepared for less than you think it is worth.

Split it otherwise I’d say £550. NO offence but unless a TFTune is very recently and for my weight and style of riding I wouldn’t see it as a positive (not detracting from it or your reasons for doing it/including reference to it in anyway). All I care about on a shock is ‘when was it last serviced seller’

    None taken, Hora 🙂

Don’t know what it’s worth. That’s why I’m asking The Internet.

    Full bike £600ish, parts £7-800ish…

I’d have said around the £650 mark as complete.

I sold a 2010 flux frame (hardly used) 3 months back for £650 posted (cost me £1450!

£650 posted? Count yourself very lucky! Took me yolks to sell my 2010 5 Spot with front mech and Chris King headset and only got £360 posted!

Just sold a large 05 5Spot with Hope headset, Push bushings and spare rockers & shock for £300 on here. It sat on EBay for 7 days with dozens of watchers but didn’t make the reserve of £250…

Thanks for the advice, fellas. Reckon I’ll probably split it up, then.

Might be interested in the frame if you split! E mail in profile.
    Cheers Pete.
