Going to try and shift my hardtail bike, but not sure of the value of it.

It’s a Revolution Triad 3.0.

Forks: RockShox Tora 302 suspension fork 100mm travel and lockout.
Wheels: Alex ASD1 double wall rims for disc brakes, Joy Tech alloy QR hubs.
Tyres: Continental Mountain King 2.2.
Transmission: SRAM SX-4 trigger shifters 24-speed.
SRAM X.5 rear / ESP 3.0 front derailleurs.
TruVativ X-Flow 22/32/42t chainset.
Tange cartridge sealed bottom bracket.
Brakes: Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors.
Handlebars: TruVativ Riser 640 bars on TruVativ XR 31.8 stem.
Saddle: Body Geometry women’s Lithia with hollow Cr-Mo rail.
Weight: 13.1kg / 29lb.

It has had limited usage since the end of 2009 (maybe 500 miles). So what would I be looking for? And would it be worth splitting it down?

I’ve always been told 50% original value and reduce by a further 10% for each year old. Which would give you about £250 – assuming it started about £600.

Having said that I’ve been looking for a 2nd hand bike for my partner’s son on eBay, and prices seem to be all over the place. £300 for 2 year old very high spec Orange hardtail, and £250 for a 4 year old GT costing £400 originally!

Did that really cost £600 new? I have never even heard of Revolution before.

It was £500 when I bought it in November 2009. There’s a post on bikeradar about this model (here).

soma_rich: Revolution are Edinburgh Bicycle Coop own make. Merida make all the frames for them. I’ve got a Revolution Touring bike which was excellent value for the money, shame their customer service and tech knowledge is so poor!

I have to disagree, I think cheap bikes make more money whole.

Otherwise you end up with too many low-end bits that nobody wants to buy or you end up spending £2 to post out something to make £3.

You should get £250 or £300 I’d say.

Thanks chakaping: thought that might have been an issue, I’m presuming no-one will want 8-speed gear now and a revolution branded frame.
