…you suspected one of your sons was a Mason.

Just had a very random, out of the blue conversation. I probably won’t post again, but interested to gauge general opinion 😕

I’d roll up my left trouser leg and shake his hand.
Do they still run this country?

Meh… I have a friend who is a mason and is pretty open about it on Facebook etc. He seems to enjoy it and doesn’t seem to be running the world through an all-powerful secret lizard society.

I’ve been to a lodge a few times as my dad used to go to his local for the cheap booze. He was a member and I assume, therefore, a mason. But he always claimed he never bothered with any of that nonsense and was just there for the £1.50 pints and general lack of trouble & neds.

I’d be massively disappointed. That’s worse than voting Tory in my book and only slightly better than working in the arms trade.

I was asked to join once by the big chief wizard dude. He couldn’t actually explain what they do though. He said they help people out and do charity stuff but couldn’t explain why they needed to be so secretive.

I do know though that when he fell on hard times he suddenly found supplier accounts had been settled for his business. So I guess it is similar to this place with secretive identities and funny costumes, some odd traditions and banter, but a bit of help for those who need it.

Lets just clarify…I’m not the one asking the question! As I said, out of the blue somewhat…thanks for the replies so far

My Dad likes to greet me with a funny handshake, but we were both in The Boys’ Brigade, not the masons.
