I’m 38 5’11 and I am trying to lose weight. Im currently 74kg ideally Id like to be 70kg. Im running about 20 miles a week, have been for the last couple of months. Ride my bike about around 50 road miles a week.

I am struggling to get to 70kg short of missing meals. I’m becoming a bit obsessed by it.

46 and a half, and 5’10”; I hover at the 73kg mark. According to a recent fitness test done by the medic at work that’s optimum for me and my build. Body fat, BP and various other stats were bang I the middle of the healthy range. 😀 and smug about that!

I only lose weight when I stop exercising and really cut down on the calories. Exercise means being hungrier so I end up eating more. 🙄

Never forget that muscle is denser than fat, so losing weight isn’t necessarily always a good thing if you’re already relative fit and healthy.

Don’t get hung up on a number- muscle is denser than fat! I tend to work off whether or not my clothes fit me ok rather than my weight. There are no scales in our house but I know when I’ve been overdoing the Co-op luxury chocolate cookies 😆

Merak – what will dropping to 70Kg achieve?
Is there a reason you want to be under that weight?

    73.5kg and 6 ft.

I have a lot of weight in my legs, my ribs started sticking out then I hit about 75kg. I can lose weight by just eating foods with really low energy density, I hate being hungry so I stuff myself with veg. Its a balancing act though as too much of a deficit for too long and I cant train as hard.

I don’t really know why I want 70kg as a target. I suppose I think I’ve got a bit of a paunch and the onset of moobs, not helped by a fondness of a Belgian beer or two of a weekend.

Feels fine to me, lost about 12 kilo about two years ago.

Can get down to 77 kilo, but normal eating and activity bring me. Back up to around 80 kilo.

Was a bit lighter when marathon training last year (sub 70kg) and didn’t look well tbf. Been between 70kg-75kg pretty much all my adult life.

In fairness mogrim, there’s something about your and molly’s usernames that scan the same, I often mix you up. Not too sure why.

5’11” 100kg I’m on the heavy side (of very heavy).

Bigshep isn’t kidding with that username 😉

125kg, 188cm tall, size 50 shoes (some makes 49 will do others I need 51).

100kg is my target weight (already down from 140kg last Christmas).

Most people guess my weight to be around 100-110kg, and while I am carrying a fair chunk of muscle I have no illusions about the amount of fat I also carry. I think that If I got down to 100 kg with my current muscle mass I would be pretty ripped, but expect to lose muscle especially off my legs as I get down to my target weight.

Buying shoes and knee pads is currently a nightmare. Buying pads is a situation that will probably improve, as for shoes I am generally ****.

    Well I`m your ideal weight(70kg) … just 3″ inches shorter (5ft 8″) and 6yrs older.
I would hate to be any lighter.

So basically we’re all fatbastads and hopefully doing something about it.

To work out your BMI divide your weight in kilos by your height in m2, so mine would be 77/1.93squared, or 77 divided by 3.72, which is 20.7.

Anything between 18.5 and 25 is healthy. If your over then measure your waist, as you could have a lot if muscle mass. It’s best not to be over 94cm for a man and 80cm for a lady.
