Hi, I saw a thread the other day on watches and there appears to be a few people on here who appear to know a thing or two. I’m looking at getting a nice watch for my birthday. Budget circa £250 (not a lot in nice watch terms I know). I like the look of the metal bracelet Citizen ecodrive watches. But some of the Seikos also look good. Any personal reccomendations? Things to avoid? Good places to buy?

Have a look at Festina, Amazon do the best prices. Look and feel like a watch a lot more expensive.

What are you after? A dress watch, fleiger, diver, something to wear when doing something in particular? Do you want a chrono or a straight timepiece? Have you seen any items you like?

Citizen Eco Drives are excellent value IMO, and look at least as good as Seikos, but a bit more bang for your buck. Shared engineering/manufacturing facilities and both very reliable.

    Tissots worth a look too.
