  • What V-brake pads for Mavic's ceramic coating?

I’ve got some oldish crossmax wheels with ceramic coating and braking in the wet with them is just scary. Currently using the XTR pads, is there another option out there? As soon as the surface gets wet they lose about 90% of their stopping power

    Thanks in advance

Surely the whole point of ceramic is that they don’t lose any braking in the wet… Try cleaning the rims a bit. Equally, if they’re worn, that’ll really affect the performance.

    I’m using these:

Work well and last a long time.

That’s what I thought! Rims are clean and in good condition, work really well in the dry. Might try the swiss stop ones then, thanks.

I found bog standard shimano worked better than ceramic specific pads on my 717’s. My solution has been a Bb7 on the front.

I used ceramic v brake pads many moons ago and seemed fine and never really wore out as a bonus.

    I run Kool Stops.
They work as well as discs in the dry, but as soon as they get them wet & lose all the heat out of the rims, ordinary.
