Busted shoulder, but I still need to spin (ok, then turn slowly) the legs.
    So which turbo and why?

I'm looking at cheap and cheerful from wiggle at the moment

That'll do just fine for what you need. If using your MTB, then get a specific trainer tyre when you buy it – smoother and cuts down noise.

Also, have a look in the classifieds. A lot of the time these things are rarely used, so make good s/h buys.

Me? I'd go for a Kurt Road Machine (but for training, rather than turjning the legs over while injured).

I have a friendly neighbour who'll set it up for me if I bribe him with pepperamis 😆

cycleops MAG for about £75 is a good comprimise between cheep, smooth, quiet.

Its like anything, pick 2 of the above

cheep + smooth = air resistance and very noisy for £50

(not quite so) cheep + quitet = magnetic/electric for £75+

    quiet + smooth = hydraulic/fluid £200+

Rollers are different, they have no resistance (unless you use the cyclops ones with the mag unit built in).

Geoff. I have a very basic TACX trainer in my garage which you are free to borrow.

I also have a 700c wheel, with 9-speed XT Cassette and a trainer tyre on it.
