I have an old lava dome, a 96 model, bought in 97. I have been using it as a commuter steed for the last 4 years. I recently stripped it down to begin a restoration project. But I am unsure which way to go. Singlespeed, with discs, can I fit discs to it? Or compact c’set with gears and top end V brakes. Any suggestions ?

Ill like the idea of a singlespeed with some quality components, I reckon vees too. Simple and lightweight

i always wanted one of these as a yoof. still do in fact. the emerald green one. was that a 94 or 95? i seem to remember they did it in dark blue or yellowish in the following years. what colour is yours?

oh and i’d stick with components of its time so v’s instead of discs.

Mine is more of an olive green paint job, matt finish. P2 forks are a copper colour, again matt finish. Lots of chips to paintwork, thinking of sending it off to Argos in Bristol.
