Breakfast at the basement cafe under the National Gallery, access from Princes Street Gardens. (Best black pudding ever.) Stroll up The Mound and have a mooch along the Royal Mile and the closes off, then up to the National Museum for a look around and elevenses. Down to the Grassmarket for a lunchtime pint.

Love Edinburgh! Such a beautiful city. Personally I enjoyed just walking around and taking it all in.

Had a great time. Didn't get to try any of your suggestions, as our hosts organised a couple of underground tours for us.
Traffic was fine - those bus routes work well!
Highlight of the weekend was a fantastic meal in Orocco Pier in South Queensferry - absolutely superb.
