Girlfriend’s booked for us to have 2 nights in Cheltenham next week.
If the weather’s decent we’ll probably go for a walk out in country but if not we’ll be around the town.
Any must see or do things?
We’re eating in the hotel one night but will be eating out the 2nd so any tips also welcomed.

Which hotel? Town centre or near jct 11?

Pleasant city to walk around with some nice Georgian streets. Normal activity is walking / exploring in the Cotswolds, Upper / Lower Salughter, Bourton on the Water etc (along with lots of other tourists 🙁 )

Cheltenham Park, so SE of town. We’ll have the car so able to get about.

Head to Pittville Park and the pumprooms, stroll round the streets
Go up Leckhampton Hill, find the Devil’s Chimney (and the DH tracks)
Try and find the house of one of Scott of the Antarctic’s buddies
Go and spot the Banksy (is it still there?)
Go and find Dancing Ken’s house
Hang around outside GCHQ with an earpiece and camera

My home town, love it! Shopping is pretty good, some nice walks around Cleeve hill and leckhampton. Not a great time to visit to be honest it’s beautiful in the summer and an awesome night out during gold cup week!

And I’ve narrowed your restaurants down to Vanilla, Brassarie Blanc, Storyteller and Dafodil. They all look reasonable enough and within our price range.
Where’s good for drinks? Is it a case of follow your nose around town (I’m presuming town centre is fairly small?). she’ll no doubt want somewhere that does cocktails, but a pub with decent atmosphere and live music would be handy as well. We’re there Thursday and Friday.

+1 for the Daffodil, interesting architecture, liked the atmosphere and the food

That was one of the first things I checked, praying for a Friday evening game but no such luck. They are playing home on Saturday but we’ll have to hit the road fairly early.

If you go to the Daffodil, there are some good pubs nearby but my knowledge a bit out of date. Jolly Brew on Painswick Road for real ale or the retreat is near the daffodil.

Montpellier for wine bars and cocktails.
