  • What to cook to impress a woman?

After a few dates eating out, she cooked for me last week and it was rubbish.

So, clearly I want to show off tomorrow and make something decent.

What will make me look good with minimal risk of disaster?

    That’s a bad omen for a start.

Avoid anything messy like pasta, avoid anything over complex and make sure you know what she doesn’t like.
Oh and start with something you can actually cook, better question for your actual friends is what do I cook that is really nice.

fish, they like fish, it’s almost like they’re otters or something. Check she likes fish first though, in case she doesn’t, cos some of em don’t. In fact she might be allergic and die of prophilactic shock so don’t. Meat and two veg. No gravy, dribbling and slurping is right out. No moppy bread either, it’s ‘uncouth’ apparently. Unless she’s vegetarian in which case vegetable tagine – which is vegetables flavoured with unpleasant spices and cooked for hours in to sludge, they love that.

It’s not about the food. Cook her something with a story – something that means something to you. Get a conversation going about why it’s important and she can see you are more than what you can cook.

Do you know what she likes? Probably that. If you know some things she doesn’t like, not them.

Something even worse then she won’t feel bad but you have to suffer a bad dinner. 😛

More helpfully it depends what she likes – spicy food, pasta, meat & 2 veg, veggie, pub grub….

When I first cooked for mrs GD I suspect it was something I had done dozens of times so I did not stress about the cooking and then we could have a good evening.

Don’t set the bar too high. Couple of steaks and a six pack.

Doesn’t matter what it is simple, complicated or expensive it just needs to be cooked well and on time. Never watched any of those dating prongs on the telly? Practice, practice and practice again so that you know how long it will take to prep and cook.

Maybe ask her what she likes 💡

    Chips

    Chicks dig chips

They are veggie and gluten free and everyone loves them

Tell her walter raleigh brought potatoes here and then discuss the triple cook method if you need a story.

    +1 for chips.

^^^ With white fish fillet and grilled sliced aubergine and mushrooms. Nearly Impossible to mess up. Toss the aubergine/mushies in pesto and a little cream and hey presto. Serve the awesome chick cut chips in their own bowl so that you can share

As you’ll all know from watching the Wiggles*, it’s very important to ask if anyone has any allergies before feeding them things. And there was a confession on Mayo’s show where someone was cooking to impress and gave his date anaphylaxis.

Actually, come to think of it, trying to impress members of the opposite gender may not be a great idea, as it (eventually) leads to having to watch the ***** Wiggles on repeat.

*the blue Wiggle is some sort of spokesman for an Australian allergy charity.
