I’m after some straps for added peace of mind when bike stood in Thule 591.
Taking bikes on roof for first time to Wales on Fri, so need to get them before then NOT from web.
What do you use (if at all)? – there are lashing straps, ratchet straps – want it to take weight of bike should the jaws of the 591 fail (bike’s a Meta so not a great fit with 591 – well documentated elsewhere).

Terribly dull subject I know but would feel better knowing my right handlebar grip isn’t going to end up in my eye socket while exiting a roundabout somewhere between Leicestershire and C-Y-B 🙂

never used anything other than the clamp if its tight and locked it can’t go anywhere, but if i was to use something i’d use a toe strap or cable tie for piece of mind

I don’t know what sort of quality they are, but our local Lidl store have had some ratchet straps with hooked ends on sale for the last couple of weeks. About £8, I think.

Fasty straps. Will take 400kg. White 100cm long x 25mm wide.

I use them ever since my bike disappeared off the top off the car! They’re very good.

Why not get some small ratchet straps? Nice & cheap from B&Q or similar & loads of other uses too.

I’ve done many a trip from Leicestershire to North Wales with bikes in 591 carriers, only problem i ever had was when one of my mates fitted his bike in the carrier, luckily it was one in the middle.

As long as the bikes are fitted correctly you’ll be fine

That’s the problem…Meta’s generally don’t fit too well because of the position of the shock mount fouling the jaws…
