road gears are expressed as gear inches.
138 gi is a massive gear to push
a ‘normal’ road going gear is 70ish, track sprinters use 85-95

It’s about a 23″ frame Smee, are you a midget?

Or do you mean the bannister?

    Odds on him bailing?

it’s long so he can get an aero position without contravening UCI rules.

i love the fact that its a potential world record breaking bike – and that he’s running a couple of different model chains on it (6 oclock links silver) 😆

Low. He may end up prevented from doing it, but he won’t bail voluntarily.

Obree is a real cycling hero, not one of those fluorescent divas who pass for cyclists.

Hmm thats a big gear, but its not THAT big a gear….

Nick Bowdler, current UK best all round time trialler:

    Thats a 77 – 11 ratio or 160 gear inches.

The difference between O’Bree’s bike and the TT bike is that O’Bree’s is a fixed. Admittedly even the low gear on the Tt will be big but easier to start than the Fixie.
