Choosing a road orientated bike.

I've found a couple of reasonable and cheap bikes.

Will i notice much of a difference on the road between a 26" MTB wheeled bike, or a more traditional 700c wheel?

I'm not into any timed or mega distance riding either!

Yes, you ought to notice a big difference. 700c will roll much better and make for a faster ride.
