I’ve trashed the forks on my beloved 7 year old Orange Five and getting anything suitable with a 1 1/8″ steerer is getting harder and harder. I’ve come to the conclusion that it might be better to look at a newer bike considering all the parts are on obsolete standards….

I’m currently looking at a Boardman FS Pro, which is at a great price and looks like a reasonable interim solution until I can afford an up-to-date Five or equivalent.

I’m 177cm (5’9.5″ with 32″ inside leg). Trying these bikes on is difficult due to stock. Anyone have any info on whether the 18″ or 19″ would be more suitable?

if you like throwing the bike around, go for the smaller option!

I’ve managed to sit on them both thanks to a very helpful chap at Evesham Bikehut. He let me sit try his own one in Large.

I think you’re right; I sit just between the sizes but the 18″ feels far from small but is more compact.

They’re doing 20% off now; might go and take the plunge next month….
