  • What sandpaper grit to finish raw frame?

I stripped the frame back i’m using for my GF’s new (old) bike, whilst i’m waiting for some new decals to arrive i want to work on a nice shiny finish.
What’s the sort of grit level i should be looking at to get a good finish? (not fussed about perfect mirror shine)
    1000? 1500? 2000?

It’s currently a bit dull with a fair few wire wool marks

In theory start lower at 1000 and work your way up to as high as possible, typically 3000 wet and dry.

You should then be able to polish it to a high shine with a rotary polisher if you wanted.
