I need a new rear tyre for my 26″ bike.
I ride mainly woodland trails with a bit of XC and the odd trip to wales to a trailcentre.
I would like something that is comfortable on all these surfaces in autumn/spring/summer.
    any suggestions?

Specialized range worth a look – they’re good, reliable as tubeless, and seem to be cheaper than similar stuff from conti or schwalbe. Like the purgatory on the back for the big bike, hardtail currently has a ground control.

You’ve just described the Maxxis Ardent to a T. I’ve been using them for years and find they’re a great compromise between drag, grip and durability.

I’ve tried quite a few, Ardents, High Rollers, Aspen, x king, leaders etc, but by far the best has been a Geax Saguaro.

Ardent is great imo. Not that grippy, but it’s the good not-that-grippy that’s generally fun when it decides to not-grip.

I’m liking the Specialized Captain but haven’t used it enough yet to really judge, it’s got more grip than an Ardent on slippery stuff but maybe not as good on the hard.
