Used for commuting but would prefer light weight alloy as its only going to take light loads.

How much do you want to spend and has your frame got mounting thingamybobs?

I have a couple of these Tortec Ultralite and for the money, they are ace. Toured and commuted with them, no problems.

Tubus Airy is around 300g (including fixings) but pricey!

As an alternative, have a look at the Carradice SQR range of bags. Works out cheaper than a rack and panniers/bags and works really well, plus if only leaves a relatively small bracket on the bike when not in use.
