  • What other chainrings can I use on Shimano M970 crankset? (Sorry if repeat)

    Anyone?

A mate said he was 99% sure I could use standard 104BCD rings for the outer and middle and would need to space the inner.

    Any clarification/help appreciated.

I shoved a 104 bcd Renthal SR4 on with no worries.

EDIT: It was for single setup, but it went on the middle without issues.

TA make a set especially for them. Posh bikes have them I think.

standard non shimano chainrings on mine. you do need to space the inner.

Do not under any circumstances get the Middleburn ones designed specifically for those! The worst shifting rings i have ever encountered (including pressed steel junk on B.S.Os). Plus, they aren’t much cheaper than the replacement shimano ones anyway…
Keep an eye on the classifieds and ebay for genuine shimano replacements, as they come up all the time

Your mate’s right. Standard 64/104mm BCD, you need some 2mm spacers on the inner. Middle and outer will be fine.

TA do do some that match the profile of the spider if you’re worried about that.
