Current cheapo d-link router has become a bit flakey dropping wifi connections and requiring a lot of reboots. It’s about a year old. The previous cheap netgear went the same way after a couple of years.
The question is, do they all do that, or should I just get a better one?
I have virgin broadband so modem is separate. House is an average 70’s semi so no signal issues to worry about. There are 12 or so devices (pc’s, Sonos, media streamers NAS boxes, TiVo, work laptop etc) connected via Ethernet (either to the router or a 48port switch) and any number of laptops, iPhones and tablets connecting wirelessly.

Obviously I don’t want to spend more than neccissary, but if I can expect better reliability then that’s worth paying for. So what can you guys recomend?

Why not see if Virgin will sort you out a SuperHub? Might be worth giving them a ring.

Have you checked for firmware upgrades for your DLink? Might solve your problems..

I recently bought a Buffalo AirStation which seems to have much improved wifi performance over my old Linksys.
