Is it M970 or 975? I can't tell from the pictures. Sorry.. silly question… Can't get back home to check though til the weekend.

    M970 are V-brake, M975 are disc.

D'oh. So the freehub body should be the same no?

Yes it is, part number 3CN 9808, retail of £125!

Just buy a new hub and play musical internals, you'll get a nice skewer and what not!

    That's an M960 one.

Thought about new hub, but then I'm left with a load of other bits I don't want and it costs £25 more.

I may wait til the weekend and see if I can fix the existing one.. although it's unlikely.

Flog skewer/axle etc, use hub shell as fancy pen pot. I'd do it personally.

Who's gonna buy one skewer or a hub axle? For £25?

Word on the street was that XTR has a three year warranty? Its a joke how much the freehub unit costs, I'm looking at potentially having to replace a 14 month old one thats slipping, if it doesn't get warrantied then I'm very tempted to just ditch the hub and go DT.

Most galling because I bought XTR thinking it would last for ages if I looked after it…

Edit: Word on the street is confirmed. 3 years for XTR. I've been forewarned mine might not be warrantied, but how can it not be a warranty on a sealed, non-serviceable part?
