A sight familiar to anyone driving up the M6 tells me I’m nearly home.

You can almost see my house.

I don’t know where to call “home” any more. Current abode is temporary.

Nice pic of Stonehenge, I rode past there last week and every time I’m blown away. Then went across to Normanton Down with its huge number of tumuli. Love that landscape. 8)

The Leamington Penis Tree, which you see as you come off the M40 and head towards Leamington.

Not my photo, I bravely searched for “Leamington Penis Tree”. Turns out I’m not the only person to have noted the resemblance…

    Didcot power station!

I was going to say the same thing! Have you joined the “save the cooling towers” group yet?? 😉

(My mum was telling my she remembers all the fuss that kicked up in the late 1970’s when they released the plans for the site, now we’ve all become used to them, and i think i will miss them when they are gone……. Humans are funny like that aren’t we)

For the last few years this has been my “nearly home” beacon:

I know we moan at living in the Uk sometimes, but wow, this thread just shows, we do really have some of the most amazing natural and manmade landscape! Que the Elgar and lets line up some Pomp & Circumstance 😉

That massive Welsh flag flying in front of the Celtic Manor you can see from the M4 heading West. I just know the sun will start shinig after I see that.

Approaching home we’re greeted by this
Bosley radio mast. It really looked like Roadrunner as a kid

    Then Bosley cloud.

Then in to Congleton to be greeted by this.

Some lovely landscapes images and obviously one of us doesn’t take his other half away with him or perhaps a predetermined distance from home Mrs Wobbem is told “It’s that point in the journey dear – show me your boobs…”

My ‘landmark’ is when I hear a Brummie accent. Some people hate it, but for me it says I am home again and is wonderful!

    This:

My Dad told me as a kid, they buried the dead for the Battle of Worcester their and when it rained, the water running off the hill turned red!

So now I have kids myself it only seems fair to pass on my Dad’s knowledge 😉

You can see it going North on the M5, just off J7, always makes me feel I am home when I see it.
