talking about good and bad teaching techniques that i have experienced and observed.
    got plenty of bad examples.

just finding it hard linking it together.

    starting it off with –

“this is what i have observed:
    giving out instructions……”

think it’s ok to use colons in extende writing…?

I’d steer clear of colons tbh, extended writing (as I understand it at least) means flowing prose. Think correct punctuation and paragraphing, and as you mentioned no bullets or lists.

It means that you’ve researched it and read up on the subject matter rather than scrawling together your thoughts the night before.

think it’s ok to use colons in extende writing…?

Yes but you have to use them properly: if you don’t know what a subordinate clause is then they’re best avoided. (Wonders if his example is correct).

It means that you’ve researched it and read up on the subject matter rather than scrawling together your thoughts the night before.

So you were never a student then.

Don’t launch straight in. You need an introduction, some development, and a conclusion. Think about your paragraph structure. Any and all punctuation is fine if used correctly!

What area of teaching are you analysing?

Are you hoping to become some sort of teacher?

I only ask because I have children

infact, don’t worry about me, worry about this one…. she emailed me asking to read through her essay. this bit sums her up perfectly….

“First and foremost, I am aware that I talk too much during my lessons. Part of this is my natural tendency to do so in all areas of my life, and part is because I want students to understand the material so badly, that I repeat myself quite a bit, often without realizing it.”

i think she’s got her head round it now though.
