I want to try some support for poor frail previously-broken wrists.

I tried these but they’re too big for trail riding – they push the hand back and make brake reach difficult just when you need it to be immediate: http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gp1 I’ve put them on my pub bike, which is fine.

Anything else? I guess there are these http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gs1, it’s hard to see how different they are, and they’re pricey to take a punt on.

I have dodgy wrists after a motorbike accident so tried some of the Ergon grips but they didn’t really give any improvement over ordinary ones.

@jedi the PDW look beautiful, which model do you use?

I’ve been using the Superstar Nomic ones, very good for what they do. I will say though that I feel they compromise my control though, I loose a bit I think because I can’t fully get my hand round the bar or that the position needs to be bob on. Very minimal though and only when I would need to really move about the bike. I’ve just fitted them back on the fat bike for the Puffer where they will work a treat.

I use the Inform Evoke on the 29er. They are grippy and gives you good ‘wraparound’ to hold on and lift the front wheel.

I run Ergons on my flat-bar commuter (with bar ends) which have good support but aren’t as good when you try to chuck the bike around, so suit a more ‘passive’ ride.

And I run Spesh BG contours (womens!) on my best flat-bar roadie and they are somewhere in between, but quite smooth so I’m not sure how well they’d do on an MTB.
