    Hi,

I’m thinking about getting my first DH bike, mostly to be a play bike nothing too serious. I don’t want to spend much money on it and looking at 2nd hand.

What do peaople rate and how much do you think I could get an OK one for?

    Cheers

plenty of S/H bargains to be had on Southerndownhill

do you want a proper DH bike? or a longer travel bike?

glory’s are generally good value s/h, i’d recommend a commencal supreme DH but then i’m biased…

Hmmm…I’d guess you’d be lucky to get a decent one for that, but I’m happy to be proved wrong.

Your going to struggle for that much.

For £500 you could get one, but it might involve scouring classifieds for really cheap bits.

Better off on a hardtail to be honest

Big hit, Coyote DH3, Club roost DH8, Azonic, Muddy fox dor an old orange patriot. All worth looking out for

You might be able to find an old Orange 222 for the top end of your budget. Would be my choice over those mentioned.

Seen a Full Build Santa Cruz VPFree for £750 in good nick the other day.

Most of it is good kit on it too, the only real budget item is the Junior T forks, but you could sell those for £100 and get some second hand 888’s for £250 probably.

Can’t go wrong with a Bighit though I suppose. Though depends where you’re going to be riding, if it’s flatter courses you may be better off with a lighter, shorter travel bike, like an SX trail perhaps.

Its not a need its a want, already have a SS, FS and Fixie.

I’ll have a look out for those mentioned above.

    Cheers
