Thinking of buying some XT brakes and I’ve seen some listed as ‘Trail’ but it’s not clear what this means. Anyone know? And do people who have them rate them? Ta.

Not sure about XT but on the XTR the trails have a wee knob for reach adjustment whereas the Race do not. Oh and they come with the finned-back pads too…

It means they are not race or downhill.

I don’t think it applies to XTs available in this country, but certainly the XTRs are available in either ‘trail’ or ‘race’ trim. The Race ones don’t have the mega powerful Servo Wave lever or lever adjust knobs, so they’re a tiny bit lighter but less powerful in theory than the Trail ones

Cheers for these. I defo want power (and reliability) more than weight saving.

I like the lever adjustment on my XTR levers, and it must be a miniscule weight gain.
