I’ve been with my partner for 15 years now – ‘girlfriend’ doesn’t seem to cut it really although that is the term I mostly use. ‘Partner’ seems a bit ****. Shall I just call her my wife? Or shall we get married to avoid this situation?

Don’t do partner please. For years I thought the guy upstairs from me was gay, as he introduced me to his partner when he gave me a lift along the road one time. He meant his business partner.
