Ahem
My old FS was known as "The Sofa".
The Ti is known as "The MLC".
The latest is known as "The New Girl".
The singlespeed is known as "Dirty Little Inbred".
The other one doesn't have a name.
Yeah, so go on, point and laugh
*points and laughs*
No names, but when missus asks me to move bike/s or enquires "are those new shiny bits on your bike????" she referes to them as thus:
Big bike (Rocky Mountain Switch 2)
Green bike (On One SS)
Blue Bike (Curtis FR)
New Bike (Cotic Soul)
Skinny Bike (Bianchi)
Gold bike (Kona Dew Delux)
Which is fine by me as I can just about remember my kids names let alone naming my bikes.
wombat - MemberI have a Boardman so, naturally, I call it Stan
Not Greame?
T'Bogey (green Genesis Altitude)
T'Rat (Roadrat)
T'Goose (Mongoose)
Nick you racist!
Steph broke my elbow
Cindy left me on crutches
Boo Boo was sold on
Stella was stolen, after that I couldn't give any names because I got attached it it hurt when the bastard/s stole Stella so now it's
Six six and the hardtail.
My Mrs bought me my Inbred frame as an engagement present (well she did get a ring!) so its called Ballard, which is her maiden name.
Other bikes just called what they are called, although I might try to come up with something better...
Similar to Sturmy, my Blur is called Hilda after my dearly departed Grandmother who left me a bit of money with instructions to enjoy it. And enjoy it I do, as often as I can. I'll never part with it.
Also, "The Big Lad" Ellsworth Moment
"The Rat" Cotic Road Rat
"The Thug" Chameleon
"The Lady" Ribble 653
"The Mrs's Bike" Old Frankenbike built from bits.

The 29er
The Turner (which is odd, as really that should be The 26er).
The road bike.
The Turbo trainer.
They all live in The Shed with The Paint and the Tyres and The step ladder.
Edit: maybe this gives a clue to why I am still single. The girlfriend doesn't have a name as far as I am aware. She is allowed in the house.
My sister named my bikes - there's Bruce the 'Goose and then Trevor the Kona and Kyle the Trek. Which is clearly the wrong way round.
Our cars have always had names too, but it's nothing to do with me.

So ... are your bikes male or female?
christ. Mine are just a collection of metal and rubber. They have neither chromosomes nor genitals.
Thanks for that Andy... I now have an unpleasant image in my head of exactly where a bike's genitals might be...
Lucy..... Lucyfer, because she's sweet to me on the uphills, and a demon on the downhills!
Other one doesn't have a name yet.
Girlfriend calls them the other women in my life. I'm okay with that of course!
The white forks reminded me of white stilletos hence the Trek is called "Tracey".
The new Anthem is orange, so has the name "Ginge" already
The 2 oranges are.......... "the 5" and "the 7"
I love the 7 the most

The Kona (Coiler, also called das strudlepanzer by a friend after hefting it)
The inbred (the... inbred)
The poo brown Kona (Roast - currently in bits)
The osmotic fitness device (her bike)
Well if I get a mechanical...I can't post what I call it as I'd get banned
So ... if I gave my bikes some boys names, would this be deemed acceptable or just plain perverted
**** ugly
(flouresent orange on-one 456 summer season)

The Rocky is referred to as my 'mistress'. ie 'Taking your mistress on holiday again and not me' by my girlfriend, as the other two are frames and bits at the mo.
Can't blame her really.
The Alpine 5 is called Samson (Samson Strange) and the P7 is called Ollie (Ollie Orange)I like the alliteration!!
"road bike" - road bike
"the singlespeed" - ss hardtail
"vintage" - 89 Cindercone
"bmx" - bmx (soon to be the dirt-only bmx)
"fixed" - fixed road bike
"crappo commuter" - ss'd kona dew
"ratbike" - hack
"Princess Bike" - Cotic Bfe. When I was building it we lived in our old flat and there was no room in the shed, so it was born indoors and resided in the living room for a bit - the princess bit was borne of an impressive rant one day about "the state of the place" by Mrs tyred, which included a pointed sub-rant about how the Cotic was too precious to slum it with the other bikes out in the shed. The name stuck.
Am I reading this correctly?
The ladies tend to name their bikes, the guys are less cerebral preferring factuals?
Unless the funds were provided by a departed relative.
Not sure I could name my bike after a departed elderly relative.
Me:I've been riding Aunt Norma round the woods all day and she's fithy?
Mate:Whos Norma?
Me:She's dead.
I'm working on blokes' names
All started by the wife with 'my other women'
Marine- Marin
Spanky- Ti hardtail
Alf- Alfine geared Ti hardtail
Cross- Spesh CX
Fred- Inbred, now sold to a mate
And now i need a name for the Ti road bike that i'm getting off another mate.
I tend to call it
"My bike"
