  • What do do with a jazz record collection?

Cleared the MIL’s house on Saturday and came away with an estate-load of stuff we didn’t want to chuck in the skip including her late husband’s collection of jazz records. Went through them yesterday after riding with my cycing buddy who has a really superb hifi setup and we played a few; they are in good condition and there’s stuff by all the jazz and big band greats from the 1950s onwards. We had a very enjoyable afternoon listening to music in a way we’d never heard it before. MIL has said my buddy can keep what he wants. After that, what do we do? Stick it all on Ebay as a bundle? Make an inventory and advertise it on a specialist collectors’ website? Chuck it in a skip?

IIRC you’re based in the North West.

I’d happily take some off your hands. I love 50s/60s jazz.

The other person to speak to is Tony Lonorgan who runs the hifi forum/record shop at pinkfishmedia. He’s based in Oldham I think.

Do you have a list? Email in profile.

Leave them under a hedge for teenage boys to find?

That’s what used to happen to the mags.

When we get the collection back in a couple of weeks I think we will need to make a list. PM sent to ourmaninthenorth.
