Was just going to go for a shimano ultegra or dura chainset and a mix of other ultegra and 105 parts but wondered if theres anything else i should consider?
I'm also still considering a single rather than double ring setup, do these work fine with 10 speed setups? i've used them 1×9 on the mtb before

I'm using a Shimano R700 compact, before that had a TA Zephyr light compact (which is probably for sale if anyone wants it!)

i have been running sigle ring for the last 7 years with no problem on 9 or 10 dura ace. on 42 with spooky carbon guides with 12-25 cassettes

so tempted to buy 7900 from planetx as the price seems good and run it 1×10

anyone use bar end shifters on there 1×10, or is sti still the way to go?
if using barcons? what brake levers would be best?

Not many people using bar end shifters. If youre starting from scratch STI/Ergo has to be the way. I can think of a few courses where barcons would be a mare.

cheers for the info, sti feel a bit weird to me as i ride mtb mostly, never used barcons.

so for 1×10 do people still use an sti for both brakes or do they buy some drop bar brake fake sti?
