It's for my 29er that I'll be racing 90miles road and 25miles offroad.

Are Midge Bars heading in the right direction?

The correct answer is either some regular flat bars and some proper old skool 'L' shaped bar ends or go Johnny Tomac, MTFU and fit some drops

Richcc I think you might be right there. But I'm riding wide 700mm falt bars at the mo and am not sure barends are gonna work.

Midges appeal to me as epicyclo said I can get my head down.
But how high do I have to get the bloody stem to use them right?
    Are they a Curate's egg?.

I saw someone mount the bar ends inboard on super wide bars once. Looked weird but it worked for them.

I have bar ends on some 711 bars – but I have an excuse.

    Woah options, options, options!

From pics I've seen on the tinternet the Woodchipper looks more road bar like than the Midge..

Brant how does the Luxy differ?

you really are a * you know that !

Was all set for a woodchipper but those do look more aesthetically pleasing. whats the width of the flat section ? the 46cm was a major selling point of the woodchippers for me.

    *insert non offensive expletive here.

    ps – spinachis anyone ?

It's a v personal thing (see ton's post) – go with whatever works, try new stuff out if you like, but before the event!
