Mammary clouds… Named because they look like saggy tits.

Found at the base of Cumulonimbus clouds.

Look awesome and are relatively rare.

S’bin ace clouds here today too…

The really high sirrus clouds were doing summink fruity this morning when it was still hot and sunny.. Then it clouded over and we got the mammatus stuff going on with some loud thunder and then they sort of faded into a very uniform honeycomb pattern as the sun went down 🙂

Anyone else a member of the cloud appreciation society?

I love a good kelvin helmholtz formation I do.

(Edit, without right-click my powers of image posting do not work on an iPad)

Yes, I am, and I regularly post pics via my iPad. There’s nothing very difficult about it, it all depends on who’s hosting your photos. It’s a little more tricky with Flickr, but not that bad.

I probably spend way too long looking at the sky, but clouds are just so inspiring and thought provoking. I only know Mammatus because they’re so distinctive, otherwise I should confess to knowing little or nothing about cloud names. I’m all about the aesthetic, it seems.

(who else sees the cloud giant with outstretched hand under the plane?)
