Just about exhausted my collection at the moment so looking for some quality movies that I may not have come across particuarly like horrors or thrillers

Here’s a couple of my recent faves that you may have looked past which are excellent

    The collector
    Funny games
    The tunnel

Also really enjoying American horror story at the moment and as always dexter is great let me know what’s rocking your box.(when not out being ultra ggnnaarr of course)

Went to see The Awakening last week. Yes, it’s flawed but it most definitely has its properly chilling moments. Well worth a watch.

EDIT: sorry – misread title as Mainstream”….!

I don’t watch a lot of films but saw Hidden this week (same director as Funny Games), very good.

Also Swedish vampire film Let The Right One In was very non-conventional and excellent.

    Nazi zombies?

When I first saw the trailer for Dead Snow a few years back the first youtube comment was “Nazis+Zombies=About f***ing time!” 🙂

You will be sorely dissapointed with ‘The Troll Hunter’.

Go ahead and watch it, but don’t rely on it for a good evening in front of the screen! 🙂

    Another vote for Dead Snow

It really doesn’t get better than Nazi Zombies!

I was quite impressed by Stake Land: Certainly not perfect, but a good film.

The Mist was interesting too. Brutal twist at the end.

I’ve got the Devil’s Backbone on order from Love Film, which is supposed to be really good. I always look forward to Guillermo del Toro films

Second the Mist – bravest ending I have seen in a while (and scores well on the Battlestar Galactica cast member scale)

Just watched a great Korean film, Host. More of a monster film really but quite bizarre and well bonkers.

Pans labyrinth and the orphanage are great, but if you wanna see a real twisted little known flic try king of the ants….weird name, weird film, but is definetly one you wont forget……

There’s a vein of good Korean horrors: Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and others. Another vote for each of the Host and the Mist, too.

Dek Hor and Gwoemul/The Host spring to mind. I found The Mist a bit disappointing.

Adding Dead Snow to my wanted list 😆

It’s not really recent, but the French prison thriller A Prophet is the best film of any description I’ve seen for a while.

Has the most bad-assed looking baddies I’ve seen in anything.

I actually found Monsters quite affecting: It’s not really a horror, more a love story taking place amidst a horror movie.

I enjoyed it, think it’s setup for a sequel as well so hope that’s on the same level.

Vengeance trilogy is horror? Thriller yeah but nothing supernatural goes on.

Another vote for The Host (but then I am an archer too).

May or may not be ‘horror’ per se but close –

    Razorblade Smile
    Perfect Blue
Brain Dead & Bad Taste (got to be in any list of this type)
    Planet Terror
    Dog Soldiers
    Tremors & Tremors 2

Dead Snow is hilarious. Well worth a watch. It is also responsible for the best tagline in cinema history.

Just won a new DVD of Dead Snow £2 posted off ebay. Should be good for a watch.

Anyone seen the film called Outpost? looks a little similar to this Dead Snow one on the trailer I just watched = Nazi Zombies!

Watched Hanna quite recently, that’s pretty good as thrillers go. And for horror, if you haven’t seen .REC yet then go watch it. RIGHT NOW.
