Yeah but I have a rubbish sense of direction so arrows appeal to me.

Whats a ‘trail centre’? Are Scotland or the Yorkshire Dales trail centres, cos they’re my faves. 😉

    Dalby,

But I use it as a forest, rather than a follow the line trail centre.

although as much as I love exploring natural trails there are advantages to just turning up somewhere and riding a red route.

Glentress or CYB probably. Other places have better trails but I’ve not ridden anywhere else that has such a package.

Innerleithen single best centre to ride, if I’m allowed to include the downhill trails and offpiste stuff, but that seems like cheating.

Nant yr Arian, hands down but then again I’ve not been to enough to make a broad decision.

Cannock Chase – been riding there long before any trails appeared so I may be a bit biased
Llandegla – both Cannock and ‘degla are my ‘local’ trails as I live about halfway between the 2
    Kirroughtree
Glentress, although I’ve not been since the new centre opened
Dalbeattie (would be far better if it had a café & shop on site)
    Coed-y-Brenin
TBH I’ve not been disappointed at any of them, but some ride better than others

    Glentress – Always A blast.

Laggan – Nice natural & rough.

Golspie – Some climb! Nice fast flowy decent.

The burgers at Llandegla are awesome but the bacon sandwiches at the Forest of Dean are also very good. I am a particular fan of the ham, egg and chips at Cwmcarn and the beans on toast at Coed y Brenin are pretty darn good too. In general if there is a good cafe there, its ok with me… 🙂

Never enjoyed Llandegla as much as I did on Tuesday, got to be up there. And the burgers really are incredible. Coed-y-Brenin was awesome last time I went, would love to go back now I’m a better rider and have a better bike.

In no order (and each one for different reasons)

    Laggan

    Penmachno
    Thetford

points off for deliberately misunderstanding the questions and replying in a condescending way – esselgruntfuttock & Rorschach

Kirrochtree, Afan, CyB, Penmachno, Inners & Whinlatter (previous local)

Great when you just want to ride, or push your limits, ride when the weather is bad and going into the hills will result in ploughing fields rather than riding.

    In the second list
Llandegla for a bit of fun & a burger, Glentress for choice & Brechfa for some madness (only went twice so hard to judge)

For the snobs out there it’s all riding and some of it is actually a lot of fun. Not all trail centres are awesome and not all natural riding is either.

Llandegla for me, been to quite a few around England, Wales and Scotland. I’m always drawn back to Llandegla, because the complete ride is perfect for me including the one planet adventure burger at the end! Yum!

    Whinlatter
    Gisburn (it’s my local)

    Glentress/Innerliethen for size and quality.
Hamsterley for being the best one closest to me.
Kielder cause it contains one of my favourite rides/races – the border raid.

    Laggan.
Golspie/Balblair. (close enough to be classed as one as they are miles from anything)

Glentress – sentimental reasons mainly as I rode a lot there when I moved back to the UK. Does have a big trail choice though and is also built on a substantial hill which makes all the difference. Also has a lot of trees which I like (trees being banned in the dark Peak where I ride now).

Lee quarry is prob the best I’ve ridden in England – just 2 visits but seemed to offer a lot. V characterful place.

I agree that coed-y-B has some good trails, but it loses points because it gets so busy.
It’s like the Alton towers of trail centres.
Because of that, I shall not name my favourites.

    1) Penmachno
    2) Kirry
    3) Glentress.

Nant yr Arian for me, feels most natural out of those I’ve been to but with enough man made stuff for fun. FOD is my favourite for dh style trails. Still need to try Hopton red and Penmachno.
