    For standard cross country.

    ZTR 355s, Arch, Flow?

Or is the new Mavic TN719 just as good and £20 cheaper per rim?

Does anyone know the rim weights for stans 29er rims? The weigh on the site doesn’t change if you’re looking at a 26 or 29 incher.

I had a set of 355 29er rims on XT ’08 hubs with DT Super Comp spokes/brass nipples. Fantastic wheels and were both tough and light in my experience. Only sold as I moved on from 29ers. Oddly enough I weighed them and still have the details…

    29er 355/XT ’08 Front Wheel: 815g
    29er 355/XT ’08 Rear Wheel: 978g (1793g Both)

DTs could be interesting – they’re only £30 a rim.

Turnip – “floppy stans” care to elaborate?

daffy – there is a wheel weight calculator on the US notubes website if that helps http://www.notubes.com/wheel_weight.php

i use the 29er arch and flow rims and find them very stout indeed and not floppy – funny enough i’ve found that DT rims are quite soft, easily dinged and a bugger to fit tyres to… each to our own…

arch rims are fine for XC (weigh 470g each)

If you want to go tubeless I’d go for the Stans.

Flows if you want a bigger tyre profile Arches if not.

Which rims would you recommend out of the Stans? ZTR:Arch:Flow etc and why?

How heavy are you guys and are you delicate with the bike. I’m lightish but brutal.

Think like using a broadsword to perform an operation rahter than a scalpel and that’s my riding style.

I’ve had the Flows on my Jones for a while now and even with my 13 and 1/2 stone battering them into the ground they’re still holding up very well.
