I’m after a hardtail 29er for a 6’4″ mate, he is after an all day bike, not a race machine

After a quick look on the web and Paul’s Cycles, the best thing I can find is Grand Canyon AL SL 6.9.

Anyone got got any better suggestions.

    Cheers Paul.

Voodoo bizangos get good reviews. Spend the change on a dropper or some other upgrades (lighter wheels etc)

27+ and can take 29er wheels

The alpkit sondar transmitter looks great for bang on the money

Both good options (canyon, voodoo), but I’d be wary on their sizing, as there both quite short on the TT (& reach) for someone 6’4″, whyte’s 29er 2016 range, (not so much with previous years) have a better length, though aren’t as good value spec wise

In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a Trek.

Their X-Cal, and even Superfly smashes it everytime.

That being said, I’ve heard very good things from Canyon though! Spec value to money is mental!

Looks great but don’t think it can take a 29er in the back?

I’ve got the canyon 2012 model I think, I use it for the work commute and the odd 2hr ride, bought it 2nd hand and i’ve not had a problem with it. Rides fast when your in the mood and with upgrades when bits wear you can get it to a decent weight.

An XL Orange Clockwork 29 would suit the job and can be had for about that budget.

Boardman 29er, join British Cycling for £30 and get 10% off the bike, total cost £830…
Nice to ride and good kit selection too…
