Yay! Longer process than expected to complete but only a week over schedule which is great.

Very excited now but still got 4 more hours in work before I can go and get the keys. First job will be measuring up at the back of the back outhouse so I can build an appropriately sized wood store. I’m assuming best practise nowadays is get some old palettes on the floor, use some more palettes to make the side and then put some felt over the top for a roof? And then I can get the two tons of wood out of the outhouse where it’s causing condensation issues.

    /does little dance.

    Yay! When’s the housewarming party?
Woodstore: put the “floor” pallets on bricks so you don’t get moisture seeping up.

    Nice one!

This being STW,I presume you’ve already decided on the location for your over-engineered coffee-making apparatus? 😉

    Thanks. 😉

    Wood store first
This will free up the huge outhouse to make into a proper bike shed/workshop plus beer brewing facilities. Jealously inducing pictures will be posted regularly 😉
We also need to get the wood stove set on a proper base with a nice back behind it.

We’ve still got to strip out and refit the kitchen which will take a couple of weeks and then house warming hopefully some time in August.

If I get invited, what tyres for a housewarming? I wouldn’t want to bring nobblies if it’s a gator skin affair…

lucky thee OP – found out on Wednesday that half the front garden in the property I am (was) buying belongs to the council & the “allocated” parking bay is about as allocated as a sun lounger with your towel spread on it… few £££ down & back to the beginning again by the looks of it 👿

    Just been there. Very happy.

The month delay was fine for everyone in the end so it all turned out nice.
Having nice sellers made a huge difference.

My wife has brought back an onion from the garden. Nice!

Happy Days, god bless your house and all that sail in her.

I had a meeting with our CEO this morning. The ink’s dry on a purchase of a house his wife picked. It was house number 4 on the list of 3 houses he sent her to look at, and he was due to see it for the first time this afternoon!

God knows what he earns and how much he’s spending blind. He seemed quite relaxed about it and his wife’s taste, but there was definitely some sewing machine leg going on under the table!

The question is Dave, which shitter should I use? It’s got two!

Two toilets, now I know I’ve made it.

I was asked by a bloke at work how I managed with only one toilet
I told him I only had one arse, so it was fine

So this is the wood they’ve left behind in the manshed

manshed-wood by Jon Wyatt, on Flickr

And here is where I intend to build the store

wood-store-location by Jon Wyatt, on Flickr

I’ll be moving that big composter to the other side of the little wall and throwing out those two little compster things which are currently filled with this vile treacle stuff. I’ll need to put something down to level the ground and can then start building. Not sure whether I’ll fix it to the wall or not yet, probably will.

One question. Do people build their logs stores into sections so they can season wood at different times?

do you think its that wood causing condensation on the roof btw ?

if thats the case youll be dissapointed when it still condensates once woods removed

    samuri

I think it’s a big part of it, yes. The building only has that little vent in it too so I’ll be looking to put a couple more in.

Why, what else do you think it could be?

    trail_rat

its thin material with no insulation

the air outside is cold – the roof become cold.

the warmer air inside becomes cooled on the surface and the moisture out of the air condenses on the roof

Ok, thanks. There’s probably not a huge amount I can do about that. I’ll get the wood out, get some more air flowing through and then see if its still a problem that needs solving.
