We decided to do the WHW over three days a couple of weeks ago in.
Day 1 from Milngavie to Inverarnan (Drovers)
The day started bright and dry and the first 13 miles to Drymen were knocked off without any worry. Conic Hill was up next and this was a tight climb but rideable for a decent portion of it. The decent down to Balmamha was great fun. From Balmaha to Inversnaid is fairly boring with some bits of carrying and a few decent sections. As we approched Inversnaid it started to piss down, and it was about 3 hrs of carrying bikes up and over some pretty big rocks, steps etc. Very tedious and would definatley not do this section again.
However after a shower and som grub it wasn’t so bad.
Day 2 Inverarnan to Kingshouse
Woke to torrential rain which continued most of the day. However the riding was much better today, some stiff climbs but the decents were great reward, particularly into Inveroran and from Rannoch Moor down to the Kingshouse, however it was bitterly cold with hail on the way down. The BDS at Glencoe was cancelled due to the weather at this time.
Day 3 Kingshouse to FW
still terrible weather but the devils staircase wasn’t as bad as I had imagained and the decent into KLL was ace. Bit of a climb out of KLL and then a really boring section through the Larig, not helped by a headwind. Some nice sections through Glen Nevis and that was it all done.
I would deffo do days 2 and 3 again but not day 1.
We are raising money for MD if anyone would like to sponsor us:
