Us home counties boys are planning a Welsh weekend in a few weeks. Is Afan still a good choice (I’ve not been for a few years and hear it’s well worn)?
My plan B is drive to and stay at Brechfa, with a day trip up to Nant y Arian.
I haven’t done much in Wales for 5 years and would appreciate updates on which places are best now. Ta.

I’d go with Brechfa for fun times – avoiding most of the black unless you like steep climbs* and Nant y for all round great XC.

*The main descent is great jumpy fun, but not the kind of thing I’d want to be doing on the kind of bike the rest of the black is suited to. Mostly hard effort XC v DH/Freeride type descent – bit of a skitzo trail 🙂

Afan is fine if you fancy it, or at least W2 is that’s all I’ve done recently. Though the idea of an mtb trail being a bit worn is slightly odd to me.
