While MTFU may be the answer, I thought I'd ask anyway.

Trying to boost fitness with a bit of running, after a couple of miles one knee starts to feel… kinda loose. Like it might 'hinge' sideways as much backwards. Not really painful, but strange and like I may be making it worse if I carry on.

    Any thoughts? ta!

Muscle weakness? Remember, start slow, progress slower and minimise injury risk.

Where some tuba grips around your knees to give a bit more stability.

Fair enough – it just sounds like a case of you beginning to lose strength and not having the power to run smoothly.

It could also simply be technique or perhaps incorrectly fitting shoes or a previous injury causing you to favour away from that knee.

It tends to happen just as the warrantee runs out. Shocking, nothings built to last these days. Except ear hair.

    Warranty on knees?

The weirdness of this forum has plunged new depths.

depends what you weigh but a couple of miles on road might feel easy if fit but not easy on joints

not sure if a fan of supports ok as a last resort – not many fell runners wear boots because they've developed the support in the ankles you need – whilst lots of walkers tell me wear boots so you don't twist yr ankle!

i'd spend the money on a pair of shoes from a running shop that offers gait analysis – might help with finding out what is going on and in long run (no pun intended) cheaper than physio

Are we talking Camelbak or incontinence?

i second antigee's advice, get to a specialist shop and have them look at your running style.

i did'nt, i went by the 'wet foot' test as advocated on some sites and based on my footprint bought some 'neutral' shoes that were agony to run in (severe pain on inside of knees). luckily the shoes air chambers ruptured before i did any real damage so got a refund and went to a specialist shop. turns out i severely overpronate and had utterly the wrong shoes.
