It’s all just riding bikes though? I’ll wear whatever I have that suits the conditions for the ride in question and I’d have been a lot more uncomfortable without them over the weekend!

I’m much more likely to have a minor tumble on the mtb, especially in the conditions I’d be wearing tights. A cheap pair of bibs or some leg warmers isn’t such a big deal, but I’d be gutted if a minor slip wrecked a new pair of Castellis.
