All the stars lined up for this one cracking weather great wild campspot and trails perfect for skinny tyres to.
Started in Bowness parked in the quite bit near the police station nice easy run down to the ferry.Windermere shoreline with a lunch stop at Brathy Castle(adventure play ground and play area inside)We took our own lunch quite pricey. Then cycle track and quiet roads to Elterwater where ice creams and a few beers for the responsible adult were purchased. Then little bit of road to Bays Brown Campsite to hit a FP which we rode to keep us off the main road, checked out the bivvy spot cleared the sheep poo whilst it was light :-).Cooked some pasta then headed to the Old Dungeon Ghyll for chips and Puddings after a few games of Dominoes left there at 9.00pm and it was still quite nice so popped into the Stickle Barn for one last pint and enjoyed a late fire to keep the kids entertained.Setup about 11pm still light with a fantastic moon and was not long before they were all out cold 🙂
The morning it was very misty but the girls slept until 8.30am quick bowl of cereal and a brew we cycled back to Elterwater for a fried brekkie. Was great all the walkers giving the girls encouragement along the way.Quiet lanes back to Hawkshead for lunch then a pint at Tower Bank Arms then a freewheel back to the ferry with big grins.Ferry across and the only downer of the weekend was the zombie apocalypse which is Bowness people walking/ cars driving in he cycle lanes and lots of aggressive tossers in cars beeping their horns as I was riding a third of the way out on the road to protect the girls. In all a grand weekend thats not to taxing on young legs hope you enjoy the pics.

That looks brilliant! I’m hoping to do something similar with mine in the summer hols, though they’re a bit younger and I will have to carry everything or they’ll go into meltdown. If anyone has any other suggestions for similar routes not too far from Singletrack towers I’d be keen to hear of them. It’s the not too hilly bit I’m struggling with. Wild camping not essential- site would be ok.
