Same old story. Cheats always seem to win.
Same old story. Cheats always seem to win.
Blatant f^&*ing cheating. He's gone down in my estimation big time.
Multi Billion pound sport and no one wants touch line cameras and video help
Too many times this happens and they still rely one the ref who can not see all of the action all of the time
Will always have these problems until they get some tech to help get the correct result at the end of the game
i agree andy but when your team get the luck it all seems okay. Henry as gifted as he is at footy is in the same group as gerrard and terry, a cheat who never gets called one. those three are worse than drogba and ronaldo.
How the f^&k can he even celebrate now the whistle's gone? I'm no Ireland fan but that's a f^&*ing disgrace.
Disgusted.
**** shocking, gutted for Ireland, they played well tonight.
There was a feeling of inevitability about this - once FIFA decided that seedings were needed to keep the heavyweights in the competition despite them not getting there with their first chance...thankfully, it didn't work for Russia (WTF were they doing in the same group as Germany??) but Portugal and (exciting) Greece did at the expense of teams that possibly deserved it more.
tails, I agree - but this was just a real sickener - every decent game played by Henry has just been wiped - they're saying he looks a little bit ashamed - and so he bloody well should - I hope he's enjoying his lap of honour.
I am gutted - really gutted.
I'm trying to start a #LesCheats trending topic on twitter. Mainly for my own vanity but I'd like to whip up a small storm.
Feel sorry for the Irish lads after such a good performance.
Terry Henry has certainly gone down in my estimation.
UEFA/FIFA really need to drag themselves into this millenium and introduce video playback for key decisions like that. But given that Platini is a Frenchman, I don't think this will be the event that brings about that change.
Pathetic- look forward to hearing the shallow explanation of that one.
As Mike says, it'll be interesting to hear what Platini has to say about this. As great a player as he was, he sure is on a different planet in his new role.
As for Henry, I'd f^&king love it if FIFA somehow opted for a rematch - can't see it happening though. But Henry should at least be banned from all football for a considerable period of time. Cold. Calculated. He can f&*k off now - I've no respect him anymore whatsoever - one of the best players of his generation? F*(k that. A cheat, that's what he is.
I used to admire Henry's nonchalance when he was an Arsenal player but this act of cheating has really changed my opinion of him.
France are not the team they once were and hopefully will get pumped out in the first round at the world cup.
Domenech was celebrating like they'd won the world cup. When really they stumbled there way through qualifying.
Yeah, Platini has plenty to say about most things - it'll be interesting to hear him justify this one. This is just going to hurt now for the next few weeks - an open draw, getting beaten fair and square - then we'd just have to suck it up - but this just has injustice written all over it!
Again - gutted, gutted, and more gutted.
Cold logic and reason cannot comfort me now.
I clearly saw a red dot on the refs brow.
Sep Blotto was reported to have been taking shooting lessons last week.
Give each manager one chance each half to review a decision on the pitch.
They inform the 4th official who buzzies the ref, who then halts play.
If the played is reviewed and found to be the correct decision the team has to lose a substitute. If the review beyond doubt proves that, in this example it was indeed hanball. Then there is a free kick given.
All very simple and easy to impliment!
robbed by the hand of frog
a fuzzy ball pic
once a gunner always a gunner!
but seriously FIFA should make a statement for "fair play" and replay this one. I know it will never happen but if it's good enough for diego its good enough fot thierry
Does it make you a cheat if you're standing in an offside position and then cross the ball and a goal is scored? football has never been a game for sportsmanship. It's always been about winning at all costs. It's why they have referees.
If you're talking about cheating, then IMO Anelka's dive was far worse he has deliberately tried to con the ref with that and therefore cheated.
Henry's was an instinctive act which he gained an advantage from. He could have stopped and told the ref what he'd done and not crossed the ball for gallas, but that was never going to happen. I thought Ireland had more than enough chances to put the French out of it in 90mins, but they didn't take their chances, and that is often the difference.
Bad luck Ireland.
It's a sickener, no doubt about it. However after looking at the video I'd be inclined to agree with muggo above. If Keane had been in the same position, would he have stopped? With Ireland's place in the world cup? I doubt it.
As for technology, not convinced. Part of the appeal in the fact that you can get a lucky break if the ref makes an error. I really belive that technology would sterilise this. There may be an argument for retrospective punishment based on video evidence though.
It is the fact he hand balls it twice though! Although the sensible side of me agrees with muggomagic it does seem so wrong especially as it's direct action was to hand qualification to the french. I was hoping they would score another just to stop it having as much relevance to be honest.
Two offsides as well.
yeah exactly, unbelievable.
That's pretty bad... Like Muggo, I don't think it was a deliberate attempt to cheat, more an instinctive thing, but he knows he handballed that (in fact he's admitted it after the game), so where's the sportsmanship to admit it during the game? No honour... but let's face it, there isn't a professional sportsman (in any sport) that'd put their hand up during the game and maybe cost their team a place in a World Cup or final... sportsmanship is dead in professional sport
Thats pretty awful really, its a professional sport and things as blatant as that should be picked up.
The other thing you might want to look into is the Egypt game .... another FIFA copout - they are total fckn pussies.
what happened in the egypt game?
Egypt played Algeria, the Algerian team were attacked on the way from the airport and two of their players were injured, head wounds from the rocks ploughed through the Coach windows. Nothing was done about it and the Algerian team, with their 2 injured players were forced to play as if the attack had not happened. Sickeing. FIFA did nothing.

Its only a game!
its football.
how is this suprising?

how is this suprising?
agreed.
I don't buy the whole "it was instinctive" excuse.
I'm pretty poor at playing football & hardly ever do, but my first instinct when the ball is heading towards my hands is to get them out of the way, not to pluck the ball into an advantageous position.
Henry's handball could have been forgiven as "instinctive" if he'd brought it to the ref's attention. Up to the ref then whether to allow it or not.
He/France were desperate, handballed it on purpose, and got away with it.
