I know this has been covered a few times but here goes… 2009 2.5 130bhp. Has alway run like a dream. Last week I had a re map to around 165bhp. Massive difference all round and loving it. This morning the DPF light came on, so took it for a 30min drive @ 2500rpm as suggested on the web. Light wouldn’t go off so took it to my local VW specialist who we have used for years. They started a manual regeneration as the soot content was 69%, but the regeneration process won’t start. We tried 5 times with 2 different VW programs including the original VW one.
Soot content is now 74% so can’t use the van.

Re map company say nothing to do with them but happy to remove the map. I’ve only covered 130 miles with the map so my thought are a fault with that as never had a problem before.

    Any ideas???

    Crikey, I’m leaving mine standard!

    Any ideas???

Put it back to standard? They are hardly slow at 130ps. Mine nearly does wheelies as it is.

Something’s causing your engine to smoke. It’s possible there’s a problem with the remap, and it wasn’t noticed when it was done because of the DPF doing it’s job, of course.

The finger’s pointed hugely at the remap I reckon, so I’d get it removed and then see.

Hasn’t done it before, only one change… hmmmmmm

My main concern would be whether it’ll be fixable after the map was removed.

It’s a pretty big finger pointing at the re map isn’t it!! It’s just odd that something is stopping the DPF to allow a forced regeneration. According to VW, if the soot is Below 95%, then regen is possible. Over 95% then it’s throw it away along with £1000 + !

Slightly worried as we had our Audi done at the same time, although that has done 500 miles since and no problems (fingers crossed)

I’m not a remap fan, so get rid to start with.

I think you’ll need to remove the DPF and have it cleaned. There are professional companies who will do this for you and I’m sure the internet is full of home brew chemical cocktails that may do the job 😯

Just found a company who cleans them and also a DIY kit. Map being removed on Wednesday so will try to regenerate after that first

I would blame the remap. Usual remapping is all about a very simple frig to the turbo boost calibration with no thought at all to emissions.

(I work in engine calibration and know how difficult it can be to create a calibration that hits all the sweet spots)

I would never have my T5 remapped by some bloke with a laptop and dongle….
