    Hi,

My VW Golf Mk 6 2.0 TDI 140 seems to have recently developed a whoosh/burpling noise when I change up gear at high (+2000) revs. The noise occurs when I depressed the clutch and only lasts about a second. Below about 2000 revs doesnt make a noise.

Any ideas before I take it to the garage? Its still under VW used approved warranty but want to go in there with an idea of what is wrong.

I’d venture a loose pipe of some sort of someone fitted a stupid dump valve without you knowing 😆

Dump valve stuck, pipe leaking or damaged.

Revs dropping can produce a whoosh/suck sound from a holed exhaust too. Smart money is on a thing having a hole in it I think.

That will have a VVT turbo, no wastegate on it

Didn’t think diesels had proper dump valves as they don’t have a throttle, and are therefore either at atmospheric pressure or under boost, but never a vacuum.
