I bought a ticket to London yesterday that leaves in the morning at 7:20am. It cost £113

I then found out I’ll need to be in London earlier so looked at getting something the night before. I found tickets at £19

I phoned Virgin to change it and they have told me they can change it but the ticket will be £113 plus £10 to change it, and they won’t refund me

bit of a pathetic moan I know, just needed to get it out

You could change it for a time in the future when you know you need to go, and then just buy the new ticket for 19 quid. Of course you may not have reason to go in the future and if you did you’ll still need to pay the admin fee and lose (or pay) the difference for the new ticket which if it’s in peak time will be more than 19 quid.

Whoever changed your plans for you should stump up assuming it’s a business that you were doing a service by not buying a full-fare refundable ticket.
