Hi All,
I appreciate this is a cycling form, and not an IT one, however, I do know that some of you work in IT and / or enjoy a bit of technology.
So, on to the specs.
1 U rackmount (it is currently sat atop my spare room wardrobe)
HP DL140 G2 Pentium Xeon (Irwindale) 3.4 Ghz (upgradable to dual CPU)
4gb ECC DDR ram
1x 80gb boot disk (SATA)
1x 1tb western digital (SATA)
2x 10/100/1000 onboard NIC's
As for software, I can either put Windows Server 2003, 2008 or Windows Home server 2003 fully licensed and registered with key provided, or Ubuntu (any version) OR! Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard Server edition. The problem with OS X is that you have to use USB -to- Ethernet converter as I haven't yet managed to get the onboard cards to work under OS X (although I haven't spent any significant time on it (it is a broadcom 5721 nic))
I can ship this anywhere you want in the country for £15- but it is not light and highlands/islands obviously would cost a little more.
Server in great condition, has been mine for approx 10 months in a home environment.
£150 delivered with your choice of operating system and should you want OS X I'll include one Apple usb->ethernet dongle.
I have it running Windows Home server feeding an apple tv with XBMC, auto-downloading tv episodes/series I enjoy. And auto-backup of my other laptop's.
If you are relatively local to me you are more than welcome to come over for a test drive/use. I might even be tempted to leave the content on it...
jt
