I like that they cover it in a black sheet, like when there is a horrific motorsport accident.

Interesting that the bloke trying to cover it with a jacket had a photo accreditation jersey on

I presume the sponsors don’t want too many photos of a cracked bike.

Either that or the electric motor was sticking out.

Probably trying to minimise the number of photos of it so his are the ones being sold around the internet (and win a few favours from SC)

Not surprising to see a photographer do that, we know the bike media are all suckling at the teat of Santa Cruz – and he might do work direct for SC too.

Wonder how many other SC frame snappages have been covered up eh?

    Make you think…

Looks like the frame snap occured from the impact with the wooden post after he lost control..?

It did slam sideways Into what looked like a wooden post. I don’t imagine much would have survived that

Everything can, and has been, broken. Santa Cruz are no exception. Unless you ride as fast, and hard as minnaar, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Not really an issue.. Carbon easy enough to repair…

He’ll have that up and running again in no time

Yeah I’d call that bad luck, if you want a cutting edge carbon DH bike I doubt it can made strong for sideways impacts like that, I doubt an Alu bike would have been any better the way it was flicked around by Greg.

They should make their next bike frame from wooden posts. Bet that one didn’t even dent.

Just beat me to it Matt, at least Greg looked to get back up again without looking like he was badly hurt, managed qualifying ok.

The truth is out there, man.

Either that or the electric motor was sticking out.

That won’t be going in until the World Champs in Aus with the massive pedally bit.

Showed the other half that clip, we agreed better the bike took that hit than Greg 😯

That looks it was in one piece till it hit the tree.

The crash was caused by the front wheel tucking under I think..

    29er problem? 😉

The bike breaks as it hits a wooden trail marker post not from the front wheel tucking that causes him to crash.

Always knew my intense distrust of carbon was justified. Im sure a metal bike wouldn’t have folded in half going round a corner. Good job he wasn’t landing a monster jump at the time.

^^I’m pretty sure your metal bike might have looked worse for wear if it got slammed into a solid wooden post at speed with riders momentum (which is what happened here). Bikes intact until it hits the post.

Christ that is brilliant! How cool is that! Everyone secretly loves saying yeah I trash rims I ride hard but oh no, I snap carbon v10s! Fantastic!

I hope he handed it Marshy and said “there you go, mate – the fork was feeling a bit bouncy, so can you have a look at that for me?”

looks to me like he made an error unfortunately, but good to see any rider get up and walk away. Still not sure all bikes would break with that impact after seeing some DH crashes into rocks and trees on YT.
